Testimonials

One-to-one coaching

I've been working with Charlotte on and off now for about 8 years. Charlotte's empathy, support, and gently challenging style has really helped me get to the nub of many behaviours and emotions, consider possibilities from new perspectives, and come to accept that some things about myself just are, and don't necessarily need changing.  Her skills in coaching and NLP have been fundamental in helping me progress through professional challenges, both personal and environmental, and to manage intense personal experiences such as anxiety.  I thoroughly recommend Charlotte's services to anyone who wants to build strength in any aspect of their life in a truly supportive and trustworthy environment.

Your skills and services are so incredibly valuable to me, and I thank you once again for your general fabulousness!

On the recommendation of a friend, I met with Charlotte just twice before I had a serious operation. I was a little nervous about what the sessions would be like but Charlotte quickly had me at ease with her warm and friendly approach. After just two sessions, I was able to think about my upcoming operation positively and without fear, thanks to her expert guidance and support.  Days later I was in theatre feeling genuinely relaxed and confident about the outcome. My husband admitted later, that he was surprised at how positive and calm I was before the operation. Happily the surgery went well and while it was no ‘walk in the park’ in the early days and weeks post surgery, everything was manageable.  My recovery exceeded expectations, both my own and those of my specialist and just three months post surgery, I was able to fully enjoy a much anticipated and very special holiday overseas.

I can’t thank Charlotte enough for helping me to be my best and I have no hesitation in recommending her services. I am 100% sure that my time with Charlotte made a real and positive difference and I continue to apply what I learned from her, in my everyday life.

Having tried unsuccessfully many other quitting-smoking techniques I decided to pay a visit to Charlotte Hinksman. Her technique was instantaneous, and made it seem so ridiculously easy I wondered what had ever been so difficult about it before!

I want to say thank you Charlotte, I appreciate your professionalism and I have been inspired! The tool you taught me I feel will be of great value from now on. It already has been used and has given me a new energy to keep moving forward. I like the way the tool is something that I feel is part of me. I am excited about my future as a hypnotherapist and the seminars I have developed. It is wonderful to feel connected with you and others who are working together to make our world a happier place.

Before undergoing IVF treatment I had 2 NLP sessions with Charlotte. I felt anxious and worried about the treatment. I wasn't sure how I would cope with it and was starting to get nervous before the treatment had even begun. I knew I wanted to be in a better frame of mind before starting. Charlotte gave me the tools I needed to start and get through the treatment in the right frame of mind. It really was an amazing experience and I felt in complete control - the opposite of how I felt before I saw her.

Using the skills she taught me I started the treatment feeling excited and ready. These skills have been useful in other areas of my life as well. I credit Charlotte with so much of the success that we had and believe that my ability to be calm and positive helped in our treatment.

If only she could cure morning sickness!

I had been feeling out of balance for some time, over-busy but underachieving, and suffering from depression. I felt unhappy, unmotivated, unproductive, disfunctional, and dissatisfied. In just two sessions, with some 'homework" for me in between, Charlotte was able to identify and remove mental/psychological barriers and restore my functionality, productivity, and sense of fulfilment. My mind is now clear of negative dialogue, my mental processes are back up to where they should be, and the depression has gone. Being a sceptical person, I was extremely surprised at the results! The change has reaped huge benefits in my personal well-being and happiness, in my family life, and in my business. Overall, the outcomes have been profound and permanent.

With Charlotte I always felt that I was in very safe, secure hands, and that she had my best interests at heart and was doing her utmost to help me. I appreciated her attitude, engaging nature, and enthusiasm, in addition to her expertise and professionalism. I don't profess to fully understand the techniques that Charlotte uses. Suffice to say that they work, and it is great to feel alive, and engaged in life, again. I would recommend Charlotte to anyone who wants to restore or regain functionality, productivity, fulfilment, and balance.

I suffered from anxiety for a number of years before I decided I could not go on feeling as anxious as I was. It was starting to really affect my life and, having some knowledge of NLP, I knew that I needed to regain control over my thoughts which would then affect my feelings. My determination to overcome this combined with the techniques that Charlotte taught me, have enabled me to identify the thoughts that triggered the anxious feelings. NLP helped me to change my old thought patterns into more positive productive ones. The result... I am feeling heaps more relaxed and confident! That said, I need to keep practicing the techniques that Charlotte taught me as NLP is not necessarily a 'miracle cure' - this is something that Charlotte reminded me of! My sessions with Charlotte were always solution focused and positive. I found her to be a knowledgeable, experienced and trustworthy NLP practitioner, and I would recommend her to anyone interested in making positive life changes.

I wasn't sure what to expect and got a lot more from it than I thought I would - it's priceless when I really think about what I got out of it. It changed the way I think about things and how I see things. Charlotte got me to a place I would never have got to on my own. I feel able to cope with things and more in control of my situation. It's a wonderful thing to do for yourself. You will get more out of it than you think going to see her. She is an easy person to talk to and what she says makes total sense.

My expectations were surpassed I was surprised at how few sessions I needed. I felt like I could have gone on for ages paying a psycho-therapist and getting nowhere fast - with Charlotte I really noticed the results from each session - so an excellent return on investment!

Charlotte really does work wonders. She understood my needs and tailored the sessions that absolutely hit the right mark and got results that I wouldn't have believed could be achieved so seemingly effortlessly. Thanks Charlotte!

I had spent nearly two years feeling unhappy and demoralised, I found myself in a constant state of gloom and panic. A friend whose opinion I value recommended Charlotte to me. Charlotte was very open and inspired trust and confidence. I really appreciated the follow-up phone call two weeks after my final session. I hope I have learned to value what I have and will never go near that dark hole again.

I had 3 sessions with Charlotte over a couple of months period. The techniques and conversation helped me get a different and more constructive view of myself. Through the sessions I got a much clearer understanding of my values and of what is important to me. This clarity combined with improved confidence allows me to make better decisions on all elements in my life going forward.

I remember the first time I experienced a migraine, although at the time I didn't realise that was what was happening, at the time I thought I was going blind and thought I was going to vomit all over my classroom floor. I was still in primary school and it was a horrifying experience, luckily my Mum worked at the school and so I had extra care in the sickbay, and luckily for me the first few times involved little pain, only splotchy vision and nausea, almost like my body was warming me up for the real impact. By the time I was at Intermediate school I was a regular migraine sufferer, once or twice a month I would experience partial blindness that would last up to a day which was followed by up to three days in bed, vomiting, extreme sensitivity to light and such intense pain that it was impossible to sleep or feel any comfort. I was unlucky genetically as my father suffered through his teens from migraines, and my grandfather on my mothers side would suffer after over indulging on his favourite peanut butter ( although his must not have been like mine as his love for peanut butter prevailed). Doctors guessed that hormones could have been to blame due to the onset of migraines around the beginning of puberty, and so I was monitored on many different contraceptive pills to try and level them out. Sadly contraceptives made no difference and so we attacked the diet and for over 12 years I have been caffeine, cocoa and red wine free after finding they caused a reaction. Unluckily for me the migraines continued despite dietary restrictions and would follow unpredictable cycles, I had one year without any ( heaven!) and some years with attacks once or twice a month and this continued until age 27. I think Ive tried about 4 different migraine drugs, some are ok, some don't do anything, one is so over packaged I cant believe that the manufacturers have done any migraine research, Ive refrained from injecting myself as I don't know if partial blindness and needles should be mixed, and at times I have had to go to hospital to stop vomiting or get more intense pain relief.

So after such a long time of migraine misery , and misery it is, I developed a fear of migraines and a gentle hatred for people who use the term "migraine" lightly. My partner has told me that he never realised that migraines were so bad until meeting me, and it drives me crazy when people say "oh i've got a migraine" and they're off to go and do some shopping to make themselves better after a Panadol. You can imagine that it was with some skepticism that I took Charlottes advice to have some sessions with her, despite having success with Charlotte before , migraines had become such a huge part of my life that I didn't believe they could just not exist anymore.

In total I think I had four sessions with Charlotte to work out my migraines, at that point I had had two or three migraines during the previous month and in the time that I was seeing her I had none, that was now 6 months ago and I haven't had another yet and won't again. During our time together she tried numerous techniques to see what worked for me and to try and find the root of my problem. Now I have practices to help my body work with me and remind it that it can care for itself. I know that probably sounds strange and obvious but Its almost as though when I was suffering from a migraine I was being attacked by an external force, why would i do this to myself? It is surprising to me that after trying doctors and natural therapies and different exercise and work practice that nothing else came close to working and (without sounding dramatic) this has been quite simply amazing.

I have successfully worked with Charlotte in using NLP to cure myself of asthma, hayfever, dustmite allergeries and lactose intolerance. Previously I was heavily reliant on asthma prevention medication, but since undergoing NLP treatment, I am able to breathe freely on my own. Similarly I no longer suffer from hayfever and dustmite allergies. As for that lactose intolerance, lets just say that I now love my hot chocolates with real milk!

I came to Charlotte feeling rather hopeless and having had suicidal thoughts, and left after 3 sessions absolutely buzzing. I experienced positive benefits after my first session and within 1 month felt positive enough about myself to search for, and find, a new job. Before I was a chronic self-doubter; now I have the tools to break the cycle and move beyond to where I want to be.

I had had a broken relationship with a guy, and the stress and anxiety that brings as it was totally unexpected, lawyers settlement, property packing and the emotional highs and lows that this brought. Then realising I was so unhappy in my job, and not enjoying it at all, realising that I took the job for the money and not for passion, what a mistake, coupled with a medical check up 3 months after the relationship break up, having a HIV positive diagnosis, life was fairly difficult, and that was the final blow, I had lost feeling connected to life people, things, cat and New Zealand as a whole, and had lost my love for Christchurch. Included in this was a move to a new city Wellington that was enough to make me stressed and not feeling good at all. So that's the background.

So I was referred to Charlotte through another NLP therapist in Christchurch, and the issues that I needed to deal with, and learn coping mechanisms for, were around stopping the negative thoughts coming in to my head stopping them before they took hold of me, this was not easy to start with as there was still a lot of emotion spinning around in my head through all the events that I had experienced. The technique that worked for me most in the end was the three finger model, or not sure what it's called. But I was, and am able to, stop negative thoughts coming in by touching my middle finger knuckle and giving it a squeeze, and saying to myself "no way", then moving to me next finger on the left using my left hand and giving myself a positive affirmation, something that comes into the head and then on the last little finger thinking of an instant pleasant thought and breathing that in, the breathing in for me is important as it becomes real and you can feel the changes instantly.

I cannot say I am 100% totally recovered as I also have realised that you need to be a realist when it comes to some crisis in your life, and I had a few for 2007, and they were what I call big ones. Life now is a much more settled stable environment where other things are more important me, sure I don't feel 100% connected to things or possessions but that's cool, and that's the way I imagine I will stay as possessions had too great a place in my life, people are more important and the enjoyment one gets from every day living and breathing, even typing this out gives me pleasure as I I can see how far I have come in such a short time-frame and 12 months is not far away at all, and lots of positive things have occurred. If I can say more I am more than happy to comment further if you need further feedback or contact me if you would like more info for others to see that NLP does work, it's great, it's instant, you need to practise but my god its so real and healing and that's what you need during a crisis time to breath and time to heal...

I wanted to work on my personal goals and aims without having to rely on interventions from the medical profession that involved medication. I wanted to deal with issues in a healthy and normal manner. I have never sought counselling of any type and was naturally very intrepid about sharing my personal issues with a "stranger". I don't know why I worried about this as Charlotte was completely professional and I felt very comfortable with her. I was quite sceptical about some of the sessions I went through as I was quite dubious of seeing any results. It was not till after completing the sessions and realising that very positive changes were taking place in my life that I started to sit up and take notice! I consider what I have learnt and the resulting life changing measures I have put into place are invaluable and priceless. Thank you!

Through NLP Charlotte has given me the tools to change my thought patterns from negative to positive. My outlook on life has changed. I look forward to spending time on my own and now have the tools to face any challenges that come my way. I am happier and more confident and I have noticed that I tell others about the tools to use to combat negativity and lack of self-confidence, I figure if I'm passing on tips to others I must have learnt a lot! Thank you Charlotte!

I have suffered from shy bladder syndrome ('paruresis') since childhood. Before I saw Charlotte I had made significant progress through behavioural therapy, but couldn't fully believe in my own ability to change. After a few sessions with Charlotte, I was able to go to the toilet on a plane for the first time. This means that I can now plan trips overseas. The hardest thing for me has been to believe that I can be free of the problem, and Charlotte has really helped me to change this negative self belief.

If you take a close look at any given area of expertise you usually find within that field a small group of individuals using techniques that achieve results the rest would consider miraculous or even impossible. These people we usually say are at 'the cutting edge' because they are using skills and tools the rest will use tomorrow. Charlotte Hinksman is one such person.

If you have recently been diagnosed or even have long standing health or emotional problems I strongly urge you to consult Charlotte. Working with this lady will teach you that lasting change is not only possible, it can actually be really fun and interesting too!

I enjoyed my sessions with Charlotte; I learnt a lot about how my brain works which helped me understand myself. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and comfortable. I would recommend it as a way of learning more about yourself. This helps with self-esteem, making decicions and being in control of your life, rather than it controlling you.

For as long as I can remember I have lived with headaches, some minor, some severe. Before I met Charlotte I couldn't imagine my life without them. I am extremely happy with the result I achieved with you. I have been thinking about it, and the two words I would now use to sum up how I feel are "relaxed and energetic". Honestly I feel the best I can ever remember. Nothing seems to phase me now, I have been working extra hours at work and not feeling run down or stressed at all. I have also lost all of the negative, down type feelings I had when I first came to see you. There is still some work I would like to do in the area of weight and eating healthier, but for now, thank you so much!

From a young age actually ever since I can remember I have had a fear of pain itself and the things that will cause me pain. It has restricted me from lots of things. Either it be injections where the nurses had to restrain me or ear piercing where I backed out of it too many times I have been terrified. My family and myself where getting extremely annoyed by this fear. One day my Step-mother came home and said that she had meet a lady who specialises in NLP and I said well what's that. She explained to me that this lady will reprogram my brain. So I thought well ok let's give this a shot. I had four sessions with Charlotte and now I have had liquid nitrogen put on my foot and had my ears pierced again. I did the nitrogen by myself. I am proud to say that I attended NLP and it worked. I am so happy now.

My experience with Charlotte was very pleasing. I have made very good progress in several areas of my life that were previously causing me concern. I have been someone who has worried what other people think, for as long as I can remember and I have always thought that was just the way I am. By my mid 30s a few things changed in my professional life and I started to suffer from anxiety and depression and started taking anti-depressants. I thought I had solved things so came off them only to return to anti-depressants as things started to unravel again. My doctor gave me Charlotte's card and I decided I wanted to do something about it. After my very first session with Charlotte, I could already see a big difference and through my sessions (about 5 of them) I feel I have reprogrammed the way I think about some large issues, and I can use what I have learnt to stop myself obsessing about situations that make me feel uncomfortable.

Charlotte's NLP sessions have greatly improved my life in many areas. I was struggling to get over past traumas which were hindering my progress in my career, and relationships. The NLP sessions have been very effective. I'm not carrying emotional baggage anymore. As a result many positive changes have occurred in my relationships and in my career. Now I am taking opportunities which I would not even have considered before and I'm better for it. I would recommend Charlotte to anyone who wants to improve the quality of their life, but is not sure where or how to begin. Charlotte's NLP sessions are professional and non-intrusive. The results speak for themselves.
